MADATAC 08 | LPM 2015 > 2018
[Testo disponibile solo in inglese] From the 12th of January to the 5th of February, Madrid will become a platform for video art and new media thanks to the Exhibition of Digital Audiovisual Art and Contemporary Technologies MADATAC , which this year reaches its eighth edition with the title “Humanotropia“, having become Spain in a reference of the digital culture and the most experimental art.

More than a hundred video artists from 40 countries will show the most innovative, risky and at the same time original and poetic that is currently being done at the level of audiovisual art throughout the world, through exhibitions, projections, conferences and colloquia, interactive performances, video installations, workshops and concerts which will take place in C. Conde Duque and the vault of the NH Collection Eurobuilding, in addition of activities in the Longoria Palace. All this thanks to the project Avnode 2015-2018,co-financing by the Creative Europe Program.

From an interdisciplinary perspective, and merging the world of technology with the world of imagination, MADATAC challenges the conventional cinematic narratives by offering the most transformative audiovisual art, in a bet by risk and beauty. Not in vain MADATAC has been recognized by an International Jury in Brussels to receive the EFFE 2015-2016 distinction for the artistic quality of the Exhibition and have a significant impact on local, national and international level.

For the Show have passed personalities like Roy Ascott, Román Gubern, Lech Majewski, Mabel Palacín, Reynold Reynolds, Bernd Lintermann, Brian Eno, among many others, and to her have been linked figures such as Abbas Kiarostami or Bill Viola. MADATAC disseminates the art of new media and the most unprecedented, unclassifiable and visionary video art, that which favors the art of seeing the unseen. One of its purposes is to promote a new exposure circuit and acquisition that serves as a quarry of video artists both emerging and heavyweight, both national and which are immersed in the articulation of innovative proposals aimed at stimulating new languages of the image in movement and that work with tools of the new digital means.

MADATAC is, thus, an independent international festival with an open philosophy, framed within a universalist bet, pedagogical and free access, and focused on experimental art. A real, virtual and itinerant laboratory where artists can present to the general public, critics, curators, collectors, academics and students,as well as other artists, his latest creations.

HUMANTROPE

Transhumanism has certified that the canonical representations of the individual have come to an end. At the present time the human thing, like an evolution fugitive, feverishly seeks for its new identity in an uncertain posthumanism. A trope, from the Greek tropos, defines the substitution of one thing for another, the alteration of one natural state by another, as well as the search for a direction and a sense.

Interdisciplinarity is the characteristic of our Anthropocene time with its necro-politics, and the artists of MADATAC 08 assault this premise in all its bright magnitude, designing remote, breathtaking, intuitive, convoluted, seductive digital landscapes, with bipolarity by horizon.

In this edition of Humanotropia, the creative approaches recreates themselves in the “human” body, to observe the human soul trapped within the body condition, endorsing the promise of a technological progress interlaced with the destructive nature threat of the body-machine.

This was already announced in 1924 in the empirical film L’ Inhumaine of Marcel L’Herbier, known in Italy under the title of Futurism, on the inhumanity and/or dehumanization, of the techno-irrational processes of the super man, with an aesthetic next to the postulates that underlie in the essence of MADATAC.

However, the festival does not take as an intention to sow the uncertainty or the fear of a revolution against the human nature. It only aspires to be a framework where represent the grand post-illusionists narratives of contemporary art, those that move the audience into a continuous exploration of the cultural phenomena and which, sooner or later, will transform us permanently into poly-diverse organisms.
